What is the difference between jet engine and rocket engine???

So alot of people couldnt differentiate between a rocket engine and jet engine

First of all, let us understand how does the engine work. Commonly an engine takes up fuel and mixes with oxygen for combustion.
In this case, oxidizer (a substance that contains oxygen) is used to supply oxygen.

In jet engines, the oxidizer is utilized from external source. That is air enters from the atmosphere and it then compressed. The high pressure is treated with fuel to undergo combustion.
Also, the fluid jets use for thrust is mainly air.

However, a rocket engine carries its own supply of oxygen.
Also, the fluid rockets use for its thrust is mainly its compressed exhaust.

A rocket engine may be classified as solid rocket engine and liquid rocket engine. The only difference lies in the state of oxidizer (solid or liquid).

In liquid rocket engine, the fuel and oxidizer are pumped to carry out combustion at some rate called mass flow rate  .As similar to jet engines, high pressure exerts combustion.
In solid rocket engine, the mixture formed is inert and when ignited, combustion would continue until none remains.
