What are resistances faced by a vehicle????Know your Vehicle
Vehicles are commonly used for transportation.
Some barriers also exist while driving a vehicle that may reduce its speed. Its best to control them in order to have desired drive.
1.Air resistance:
It is the type of resistance caused due to aerodynamic drag. Now drag is a force which resists the movement of vehicle. When you drive a vehicle, air present in the atmosphere collides with the body of vehicle and causes pressure. Here comes the modern car frame design in place. The airfoil structure of the car allows the air to slide through the surface offering negligible pressure. The more air foil the body is, the less pressure develops. In some vehicles, the rear area of the vehicle exerts high pressure exhaust because of high pressure developed due to less inclination at rear. For example, Vintage cars. But if we look at Mercedes Benz or some other ,presently, having the same structure but with inclination at the rear , exhaust develops low pressure.
The best example of airfoil structure is Lamborghini Aventador sports type vehicle where speed is dominant over power so reduction in drag is required to maximum.
2.Grading Resistance:
It is the type of resistance offered to the car when the car is undergoing a slope in the road. The more the height, the more torque is required. When we incline a slope, we increase our RPM such that more power is required to move the vehicle due to Gravity pull.
In an IC engine when the air-fuel mixture is combusted, it exerts pressure given to the crankshaft which further transmits it to fly wheel and it stores torque to be transmitted later.
Power is the work done in unit time by the engine.
3.Rolling Resistance:
This is an interesting kind of resistance. When your vehicle is left idle and then driven after certain period of time and drove, the tired initially exert pressure to the opposite direction to the movement of car such that its radius differs from original radius of the car.Hence moment is produced by the shift of ground reaction known to be rolling resistance.
